I started out in technical writing and have spent my whole career in UX. I document the shit out of everything (usually) and have found that to be more helpful than harmful in the long run. I’ve documented my work processes for those times I was trying out new methods or working for new teams (lends to easy case study creation long after I’ve forgotten the details of a project!). I’ve documented my research findings and design iterations (even if no one else reads them) — which has saved my ass plenty of times when I needed to justify decisions long after I made a recommendation.

I’m curious about whether folks who DON’T come from writing backgrounds also document like this…
